Annual research reports from University of California Riverside, Davis and The Texas A&M University System, for FY 2007/2008. - Branka Lothrop, PhD., Scientific Operations Manager

 

Background:

The District provides research grants to the University of California Riverside and UC Davis. UC Riverside research projects include a study on the possibility to use different bio-control agents such as tadpole shrimps for mosquito control, seasonality and abundance of eye gnats in agricultural and urban habitats and the influence of the water quality and wetland management on mosquito and other nuisance insects’ production in treatment wetlands.   UC Davis research projects include monitoring of mosquito-borne viruses and evaluation and optimizing of mosquito vector species control.

 

Fiscal Impact:

The research grants are approved for FY 2007/2008, and posted in the budget as account #8510.1.600 in an amount of $217,569 and the ending payment (total - $98, 784.50) will be distributed as:

 

  1. UC Riverside – Dr. M. Mulla - $19,000
  2. UC Davis – Dr. Reisen - $41,866.50
  3. UC Riverside – Dr. Walton - $27,918
  4. UC Riverside – Dr. Platzer - $10,000.00
  5. Texas AgriLife Extension Services – Dr. Drees -$20,000.00 (paid in full in 02/08)

 

 

The annual payment is 100% of the approved FY 2007/2008 research budget- #8510.01.600.
