Approval for Administrative Assistant Anita Jones to attend the Public Sector Employment Law Conference, May 22-23, 2008 in San Francisco, CA in an amount not to exceed $1,500.00 from Fund #7600.01.225 – Staff Training.

Background:

This annual conference focuses on current labor and employment issues that are important to public agencies. Sessions include “What Did the Courts and Legislature Do To Us This Year,” “Hot Fair Labor Standards Act Topics,” “Preventative Measures to Stop Discrimination/Harassment in the Workplace – Avoiding Liability for Your Agency,” and “Employee Privacy Issues in an Electronic World.”

Staff Recommendation:

Approve attendance at the Public Sector Employment Law Conference for the Administrative Assistant in an amount not to exceed $1,500.00 From Fund #7600.01.225 – Staff Training.

Fiscal Impact:

Current funds available in Fund #7600.01.225 – Staff Training is $13,336.00, which is 33% of the budgeted amount for this line item. This expenditure is approximately 11% of the available balance.
