Discussion and/or approval to hold an 80th Anniversary Open
House celebration on Thursday, April 24, 2008, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00
p.m., in an amount not to exceed $6000.00 from Fund #6130.01.215 – Special
Events. Assistant to the General Manager

Background:
This event will showcase the District and its many vector-related programs
to the public through the recognition of its 80 years of service to Valley
residents. Event highlights to include
remarks from elected officials and dignitaries, program displays and tours of
the District’s facilities, commemorative give-a-ways, refreshments, and an anniversary
cake. Representatives of local media
will also be invited.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends April 24, 2008, between 10:00 and 2:00 p.m. as the date and time for the event in anticipation of agreeable weather to encourage public attendance.
Fiscal Impact:
Current funds available from Fund # 6130.01.215 – Special Events is $29,917, which is 100% of the budgeted amount for this line item. This expenditure is approximately 20% of the available balance.
