of Trustees Meeting May

Agenda Topic: New Business
Discussion and/or approval to go out to bid and purchase new security measure to protect solar panels, vehicles, workhorses and trailers from lowest responsible bidder not to exceed a total of $50,000 from Fund #8487.01.800 – District Building Capital Miscellaneous Improvements.
Background:
The district has added 1.2 million dollars in Solar Panels. The only security intrusion detection system protecting the investment is two long range beams, originally installed to protect the district's vehicles, workhorses and trailers. These beams are easily scalable and produce false positives caused by wind and vibrations. The beams have not detoured individuals from drilling holes into vehicle gas tanks for gas nor attempting to stealing workhorses. The installation of the microwave beams and audio sirens will provide proper alerting measures to protect the district's investments.
The microwave sensors detect intruders in outdoor environments and are not affected by rain, wind or other sources of nuisance. Microwave beams can produce a 4 foot beam width at a distance of 330 feet
