Approval for General Manager Don Gomsi, Scientific Operations Manager Branka Lothrop, PhD, Vector Ecologist, Operations Manager James Saulnier, President Mike Duran, Vice President John Fuschetti, and Secretary/Treasurer Bruce Underwood to attend the AMCA Annual Meeting, March 2-6, 2008, in Sparks, Nevada. Amount not to exceed $7,500.00 from Fund #6110.01.200 – Conference Expense and $4,500.00 from Fund #6120.01.250 – Trustee Support.

Background:

This educational meeting is intended to provide staff with the opportunity to hear speakers address issues which are timely and relevant. It also facilitates employee networking with vector control professionals, researchers and educators to discuss science, technology and products used to conduct research and control vectors. The District regularly attends this annual conference with various numbers of staff.

Staff Recommendation:

Approve attendance at the AMCA Annual Meeting, March 2-6, 2008 in Sparks, Nevada, in an amount not to exceed $7,500.00 from Fund # 6110.01.200 – Conference Expense and $4,500.00 from Fund #6120.01.250 – Trustee Support.

Current funds available from Fund #6110.01.200 – Conference Expense is $53,439, which is 98% of the budgeted amount for this line item. This expenditure is approximately 14% of the available balance. Current funds available from Fund #6120.01.250 – Trustee Support is $19,377, which is 81% of the budgeted amount for this line item. This expenditure is approximately 23% of the available balance.
