Agenda Item: New Business
Discussion and/or approval to purchase budgeted vehicles from the lowest responsible bidder in order to accommodate the addition of new staff in an amount not to exceed $133,000.00 from Account #8415.01.300.
Background:
The Board of Trustees approved a revised organizational chart with the 2006-07 Budget that allowed for two new positions: Vector Ecologist and Senior Biologist. These positions require vehicles to be used for various functions throughout the course of their work. The following vehicles are needed for these employees and for improved functionality:
Two Full-Size F-150 Extra Cab Four Wheel Drive 1/2 Ton Pickups with service beds.
One vehicle will be assigned to the Senior Biologist for coordinating field
stocking programs and evaluating areas for different organisms used in
mosquito control. The second vehicle is necessary to compliment the fleet
of existing technician trucks, moving a larger truck currently used in Vector,
to Fleet/ Maintenance.
One Ford Sportrack Four Wheel Drive SUV to compliment our existing fleet.
This vehicle will be assigned to the Vector Ecologist for field work and carrying passengers such as researchers, students, and consultants.
One F-450 standard cab with 12-foot stake bed dump.
This vehicle will cross several departments. RIFA will use it to haul multiple pallets of products on site for large treatments. Fleet and Facilities will us it to haul debris and as a pulling platform to move vehicles stuck in the mud. Vector will use it to haul clean water for mixing with control products in the field.
These vehicles are included in the 2008-08 budget.
Staff Recommendation:
Approve the purchase of additional vehicles in an amount not to exceed
$133,000.00 from account # 8415.01.300 – Vehicle Capital Outlay.
Fiscal Impact:
These items are budgeted and funds are available in line item # 8415.01.300 – Vehicle Capital Outlay. The current budget balance for line item 8415.01.300 is $133,000.00. This request represents 100 percent of the outstanding remaining balance.
