Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District Board of Trustees Meeting September 11, 2007 |
Agenda Item: New Business
Approval to purchase two (2) EZ-Go ST-480 Work Horse carts from lowest responsible bidder from Fund #8415.01.500 – Field Operations Capital Outlay in an amount not to exceed $20,000.00.
Background:
The RIFA control program continues to be proactive in its efforts to gain control of RIFA in the Valley as it intensifies the application of control products. For application over large areas, the program continues to use a Workhorse that was purchased in 2000 when the California Department of Agriculture was overseeing the program. The workhorse has been a very reliable vehicle for the application and delivery of control products. Purchasing two additional work horse vehicles would complete the desired pesticide delivery fleet. These two vehicles would be used for the Department’s expanded use of Choice (Fipronil), which is applied at a rate of 12.5 pounds per acre, as compared to 1.5 pounds for the other control products, the District uses to control RIFA.
Staff Recommendation:
Board approval to purchase two new EZ-Go ST-450 Work Horse Carts from lowest responsible bidder.
Fiscal Impact:
Current funds available from Fund #8415.1.500 – Field Operations Capital Outlay is $20,000, which is 100% of the budgeted amount for this line item. This expenditure is 100% of the available balance
