Background:
As part of the Community Outreach Program, the Executive Committee believes that membership in the Valley’s Chambers of Commerce would provide the District with an opportunity to become a more active part of the community it serves.
Membership in these organizations would allow staff and Trustees the opportunity to meet with the community’s leaders and to discuss concerns or issues directly.
Membership will also provide another venue in which the District can publicize its services and programs to local businesses and services through exhibits at meetings, participation in networking opportunities, presentations at luncheons and breakfast meetings, additional outlets for District brochures, literature, materials, etc.
Government agencies are often considered distant or not responsive to the residents it serves, and the opportunity to meet these community leaders at the meetings of their organizations should prove beneficial to all.
The Executive Committee recommends membership in these organizations.

Fiscal Impact:
Current funds available from Fund #6050.01.225—Dues and
Subscriptions is $ 24,720, which is 100 % of the budgeted amount for this line
item. This expenditure is approximately 8
% of the available balance.
