Agenda Topic: Consent Calendar
Approval for General Manager and Assistant Vector Ecologist to attend Society of Vector Ecology Annual Meeting in Springfield, Illinois, September 16-20, 2007 in an amount not to exceed $4,000.00 from Fund # 6110.1.225 – Conference Expense.
Background: The SOVE conferences are recognized
world -wide as one of the strongest programs presented
on the various aspects of vector ecology, including applied research. Each SOVE
conference is divided into a series of symposia/colloquia. Each participant is given sufficient time to
give an in-depth presentation. The
upcoming meeting will provide an opportunity to exchange experiences with
The attendees will receive continuing
educational units that are required to renew the certificate issued by the State
of California Department of Health Services, and that authorize individuals to
handle, apply, and supervise the use of pesticide for public health purposes
pursuant to section 402 and 403 of the California Health & Safety Code.
Staff Recommendation:
Approve attendance for District
Manager and Assistant Vector Ecologist at the Society of Vector Ecology Annual
Meeting in
Fiscal Impact:
Current funds available from Fund #6110.01.225 – Conference Expenses are $ 54,440.00, which is 100% of the budgeted amount for this line item. This expenditure is approximately 7% of the available balance.
