Executive Committee Meeting

Call To Order:

President Mike Duran called the meeting to order at 10:04 a.m., on February 29, 2008, in the District’s Conference Room. Those present at roll call were President Mike Duran, Vice President John Fuschetti, Secretary/Treasurer Dr. Bruce Underwood, General Manager Don Gomsi, Assistant to the General Manager Diane Glanz, and Legal Counsel Lisa Copeland.

Confirmation of Agenda:

Trustee Underwood moved to confirm the agenda as presented. Second by Trustee Fuschetti. Carried unanimously.

Approval of Minutes of February 1, 2008

Trustee Underwood moved to approve the minutes of the February 1, 2008, meeting as presented. Second by Trustee Fuschetti. Carried unanimously.

Public Comment:

General Manager Gomsi reported that a storage unit was delivered and preparations made for the arrival the week of March 17 of the research team from the US Department of Agriculture and the Navy Entomology Center of Excellence. They will begin the phase one of testing new mosquito and fly repellents, inhibitor and control products.

Review of March 11, 2008 Board, Agenda

Reviewed. Trustee Fuschetti moved that the Team Building event proposal be included on the agenda with a discussion of the other proposals considered by the Team appointed at the Strategic Planning meeting. Second by Trustee Underwood. Carried unanimously. Legal Counsel Copeland asked to have her report on Trustee benefits postponed to the April meeting. Committee approved. Counsel also added two closed session items.

Press Coverage/Legislation

Report given by General Manager Gomsi on the proposed Ducheny bill regarding special districts. Staff will develop a briefing paper/talking points regarding this bill.

Schedule Next Meeting

The next meeting will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, March 28, 2008.

Trustee Comments

Trustee Fuschetti addressed the time and format of multiple presentations made by vendors. He felt the time allowed for the Communications/PR firm presentation was too short and the format for question and answers inadequate.
